we had snow again.  it was cold but beautiful!

a lot of our kids were in the musical at the school – Oklahoma.  it was really cute and we have really talented youth!

my grandmother got the presidents away at the college.  so we got to play hide and seek with her.  except we were hiding and she didn’t know.  we avoided her until the award was presented to her.

jay and julian came stopped on their way through town.  (andy got a chest slap for old times sake)

the silipigni’s came to visit.

mom’s cats ashes and UT (the orange one) were cute like normal (they are getting older, but still just as fat and sweet as ever).

we have been to chorus concerts, shopping trips, date nights and so much more that wasn’t captured with our cameras.

now that I am getting organized with my photos and thoughts I can say that hopefully this will be the last “catch up” post.  my goal is to keep it caught up (but I have said that before I know).

something I don’t have photos of that I am thrilled about and so very proud of is that andy has decided to go back to school.  that means that he is traveling on most weekends, but we will survive the next few years.  I have been able to catch up on reading and sewing so it has been ok – for now.  I am looking forward to his graduation gift – which I am already mentally planning – a cruise!  i really am so proud of him.

home sweet home

we bought a house!  we closed on it in january and took our time moving in.  we wanted to scrub the house, replace the carpet, and paint the inside.  we decided that it would be easiest to do this while the house was empty.  even though we didn’t want to spend the money, we decided it would be quicker if we hired someone to paint.  we called to get an estimate and in the mean time picked out new carpet.  we asked if they could pull up the carpet so that we could paint the rooms.  they did.  we still hadn’t heard back from the painters, so we decided to start (so that the new carpet could be put down).  once we started we just continued on.  my mom helped remove a wallpaper border in the kitchen and cleaned the fridge!  once we had the carpet and the paint we moved on in (it took about a month to get everything ready).  we have a garage and I love it, but I wouldn’t let us park in it until our boxes were unpacked (so it wouldn’t get messy).  I have loved it (especially in the rain)!  now that it is getting colder outside I can’t wait to not have to scrape ice off my windshield!

we have a beautiful view of the mountains and the sunrise from our windows and porch.

the first time pulling into our garage the night we closed!

not long after we moved in we got snow.  it was beautiful! Otis loved it (he got to wear his sweater)!

grandmamma coming to see the house for the first time.  she was more interested in our garden area and plants.  she came back a few weeks later and helped andy trim rose bushes.

another beautiful sunrise.

apparently robins come back to the same nest year after year.  so we had a nest with several eggs in it.  baby birds are ugly.  I was just getting used to them and they flew away.  didn’t even say goodbye.

we tried our hand at gardening.  we had strawberries (but didn’t get to eat any because of bunnies and birds), squash, zucchini, and tomatoes.  we got so much out of the garden and it was fun.  the food was amazing.

we will use this room as a nursery when the time comes, but for now it is my sewing room so that I can lay out my projects and put the baby gate up so Otis doesn’t mess up the fabric.

in charlotte right before we put the house on the market we did the guest bedroom very similar to this design.  my parents got the frames at an auction and we loved the look so we did the green stripe to high light the dark wood of the frames.  i loved the look in charlotte and was glad that andy let me do it again here!

we aren’t done with the office yet.  the desk in the picture was a treasure find from ginger and sandy.  it is currently in the garage being sanded and stained.  once the desk is done we will start looking for some sort of chair to put in place of the guitars.  i keep going back and forth from a real over sized chair, to a bean bag…still haven’t made up my mind.

ignore the sewing table…it isn’t a permanent fixture of our living room (sort of).

we didn’t love the landscaping along the driveway and near the house, so we are in phase one of who knows how many to get it how we want it.  (pulling bushes is so much easier when you have a tractor).

i think that pretty much is our new house and the things related to it.  hopefully soon we will have more pictures on what we have been able to do to the outside of the house.

winter wonderland…

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We’re happy tonight,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

DSCN8026 DSCN8025 DSCN8068 DSCN8044 DSCN8042 DSCN8034 DSCN8033

take me back to Christmas when i sing winter wonderland and it makes me happy and i feel like it is a happy song and i sing it with a smile on my face…then comes January and February and march.

DSCN8262 DSCN8270 DSCN8273 DSCN8274 DSCN8275 DSCN8297 DSCN8316

by january that winter wonderland spirit is gone and i am no longer wanting to walk in a winter wonderland.  i no longer want to build a snowman and call him anything.  i actually want to walk in a spring wonderland where it is in the low 70s with a slight breeze.  well my bubble has been completely shattered lately.  we have had so much snow this winter.!

DSCN8319 DSCN8320 DSCN8325 DSCN8326 DSCN8330 DSCN8332 DSCN8337 DSCN8340 DSCN8341

let me give the snow some credit.  it is beautiful on the mountain and it makes the air clean with the crisp coolness that it brings.  i love watching it fall and between hearing the flakes fall on the ground and the water in the creek beside our house it has been very pleasing to my ears.  i will go as far to say it has been relaxing.

DSCN8004 DSCN8005 DSCN8008 DSCN8009 DSCN8010 DSCN8012 DSCN8016 DSCN8019

then reality strikes and i panic.  how am i going to get to work?  if that huge hill is covered in ice and i can’t make it to work – will i get fired?  will they judge me?  what will this do to otis’ arthritis?  will we be ok?  should i have actually gone to the grocery store and stocked up?  will we be snowed in?  what do we do if the power goes out?  what if me and andy get on each other’s nerves?  how long will this last?  what am i missing?  i don’t mind the snow as long as 1. we don’t have to go out in it or 2. the roads are clear.

this year we have been able to experience several days of below zero weather.  it was kind of cool the first time we saw the temperature in the car…and then the excitement wore off when that cold air hit you in the face and then the lungs.

Otis was over the entire thing.  he didn’t love the snow and he didn’t love the below zero weather.  he would walk halfway down the driveway and stop picking up his paws.  he would glance at us and we (read that as andy) would have to pick him up and he would have rocks frozen to his feet.  it was pitiful.

we even had pipes burst because of the co weather.  I will be honest I started this post in January and today in march we had snow.  this past weekend we had a tease of beautiful weather and I can not wait until spring!
